CWU members have voted by 4 to 1 in favour to back at 2-year pay deal at O2 worth 5.25%. Employees at the mobile company, who are represented by the union, will receive 2.5% this year, back dated to 1st April and a further 2.75% in 2011. After months of tough negotiations, CWU members have backed a three year pay deal worth 9.3%. Members voted overwhelmingly in favour, with 86% voting yes for the deal, which is fully consolidated and pensionable. Part-privatisation of Royal Mail and Digital Britain were the top issues during the hustings, which included a opportunity for all five candidate to speak directly to CWU Activists and a question and answer session. CWU have announced they have cancelled the ballot for industrial action in BT after legal advice. However, BT have made an offer to CWU for further negotiations and the union will take up that offer whilst taking all necessary steps to allow a re-ballot as soon as possible if negotiations are unsuccessful. Over 150 CWU members staged a demo outside BT Centre in London to mark the first day of the BT Pay Dispute ballot. Brandishing placards and waving CWU flags, demonstrators marched around the building chanting their message of wanting a 5 percent pay increase. An emergency motion was heard at the CWU Telecoms Annual Conference in Bournemouth this month where delegates representing over almost 60,000 staff at BT have voted unanimously in favour to hold a strike ballot as the current standoff over pay continues. If BT fail to increase their offer to meet CWU's 5% pay claim by midday on Friday 4th June, the CWU will immediately serve formal legal notice to BT. (Created May 2010)

Vodafone have announced 375 jobs are to be lost at their Contact Centre in Stoke. Vodafone have decided not to call a 90 day consolation period and have, as CWU TV understand, held meetings with the employees to negotiate redundancy packages and once signed then escorted them off the premises.
